Dear Readers,

I hope that you and your families are safe from the COVID-19 Pandemic which has brought an unparalleled situations and challenges ahead. Keeping the wellbeing of our editorial members in mind and complying with the instruction from the Government, we are at present operating a work from home policy. The dental colleges and institutions are being partially/completely closed for an indefinite period and state borders sealed because of lockdown, due to which we were unable to print and dispatch journal copies to our subscribers/readers on time.

The whole medical and biomedical field has shifted its focus to COVID19. There is an immense trove of knowledge emanating in this period. Oral biology has seen also an explosion of knowledge in this covid19 context. There are reports of oral cancer, pre cancer condition and oral lesions and manifestations being influenced by the COVID19 infection besides the changes in oral cancer treatment delivery. Hence, this issue of JOMFP include COVID19 related hotspots pertaining to our field.

A constant stream of manuscripts on COVID-19 kept flowing into our inbox and superseded in these days, in this issue we have excluded cancer neoterics and added five articles related to COVID-19 under emerging hot topics which includes topics related to vaccine, treatment, research article on blood typing, specimen and sample handling in labs and a case report. We request the authors to keep abreast of its symptoms and outcomes, submit only the original research as there are rapidly rising cases in India and around the world. During these are rough epochs, I would like to use this platform to appreciate the hard work and commitment of the health-care providers worldwide, and pray that we all overcome this phase and will succeed.

We have continually endeavored to make our journal pious with booming and high notch of success. From this year, we decided to raise the bar for ourselves and thus few new columns have been included in our journal, hope it encapsulates many things our readers anticipated from us. As a result of which we have received more than 300 manuscripts by the end of June month. Our editorial team members and our journal reviewers have been steadfast in providing unprejudiced, swift evaluations of the manuscripts submitted. Therefore, the authors will undoubtedly have a pleasant and rational experience working with our editors and reviewers.
