Aptly suits to respected Dr. Alka D. Kale madam, a true combination of 'Head and Heart' and regarded as the best teacher and showed us where to look but did not tell what to see.
After completion of BDS (1984) and MDS (1987) in the specialty of Oral Pathology and Microbiology from Govt. Dental College and Hospital, Nagpur, she started her teaching career in 1988 at KLE's Dental College and Hospital, Belgaum as a lecturer and is presently working as a Professor of Oral Pathology and Microbiology and Principal in the same institution. She completed her Ph.D from the KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research in 2014 and obtained Fellowship in Oral Pathology and Microbiology from the Indian Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, India, in 2016.
In an illustrious teaching career spanning more than 3 decades, she has served as an active member in the institution, universities and various committees and holds several leadership positions at administrative levels. Madam has guided so many postgraduate students and Ph.D. scholars, authored and co-authored innumerable scientific publications in various reputed International and National journals, posters in conferences and also conducted several workshops on Dental Education Technology. She is also a renowned keynote speaker and invited speaker and has delivered lectures at National and International conferences, in many institutions and universities.
Madam has received several State and National level awards for scientific presentations and was awarded as 'Best Teacher' and 'Teacher of Teachers' of KLE University and 'Life Time Achievement Award' by the Indian Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at the 20th National IAOMP Conference in 2011 Hyderabad. Now, Madam is serving as the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at KLE University. Madam was the former president of IAOMP during 2011–12 and also extended her services, contributing as chairperson, organizing secretary, conference secretary for various conferences and PG conventions including IAOMP.
Education institutions require keen teachers who will have a rare combination of scholarship and flair for teaching. KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research (KLE Deemed-to-be-University) Belgaum, definitely has the services of Dr. Alka D. Kale in various capacities at different levels and Madam's contribution will definitely take the university to high standards. She always remembers with humility, her gurus, Dr. A. T. Beviji and Dr. V. K. Hazarey, following their footsteps as committed teachers and eager to continue their legacy.
Dr. Alka D. Kale is a multitalented person who was ever willing to devote extra time to helping students and took on the role of a friend, philosopher and guide. She has set high standards in learning and teaching respected as the best teacher to show us where to look but do not tell us what to see.
