The Mayan calendar ended in 2012 predicting the end of the world, but life goes on, easing gracefully into 2013! As for us, we the new editorial board have been bestowed with a great opportunity to work as a team for the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. A sincere note of appreciation to the Chennai team for the work they have done which we will continue, and take the journal from strength to strength. Bringing out the first issue of 2013 of the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology from Bangalore will be a benchmark achievement for us!
Liberal and diligent contribution from authors and reviewers will help the journal acquire quality articles for the benefit of the national and international community. The editorial board invites articles and meticulous reviewers from all parts of the globe to help enrich the quality of the journal. Ethical issues will be of paramount importance. Quality photomicrographs and images systematically compiled will be highly appreciated.
Several new features will be launched in this issue. These include a set of articles for 'online-only' access. "Enigmatic Morphological Insights" is a section discussing interesting histopathological issues. The association [IAOMFP] website will have a monthly feature compiling recent advances under the title 'Future Perspectives'. There will be something for every kind of reader, the young, the experienced and the inquisitive.
We welcome contributions and suggestions for improvements at any time, and will endeavour to incorporate as many of them as we can.
I laud the efforts of the editorial board, contributing authors, board of reviewers and the publication house for making this issue a reality. Hope every reader enjoys this issue as well as all the forthcoming issues!
